James F. Brumit — Sunshine Lodge No. 341 is a Masonic lodge in Dallas. We are ordinary men from every walk of life who have chosen to hold ourselves to something higher: honesty, charity, and the steady work of self-improvement.
Why men seek the Craft
Freemasonry asks something of you — and gives more back.
Masonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternity. It is not a club, a religion, or a business network. It is a system of moral instruction taught through symbol and ceremony, practised among friends.
Character, deliberately built
Our ceremonies use the tools of the stonemason as moral metaphors: the square for honest dealing, the level for equality, the plumb for upright conduct. You leave with work to do on yourself.
Relief and charity
Masons in Texas support scholarships, children's hospitals, veterans, and neighbours in hard times. Charity is not a side project of the fraternity — it is one of its three principal tenets.
The oldest rule we keep
No one will ever ask you to join.
Freemasonry does not recruit. We do not knock on doors, and we will never pressure a man toward the fraternity. A petition has to come from your own free will — that is precisely what makes it mean something.
Which leaves exactly one way in: you have to ask us. Masons put it simply — to be one, ask one.

Our Lodge
They call us Sunshine.
Our lodge carries the name of James F. Brumit in honour of his devoted service to the Craft — but around Dallas we have always simply been Sunshine. It is a name we try to live up to: a lodge that is warm to visitors, quick to help, and glad to see a new face at the door.
We are chartered under the Grand Lodge of Texas, A.F. & A.M., and we meet on the first Saturday of every month — breakfast at eight, lodge at nine. Guests are welcome at the table, always.

The path to membership
Four steps, taken at your own pace.
There is no rush and no obligation. Most men take months getting to know a lodge before they ever fill anything in.
Reach out
Send us a note. We will answer your questions honestly — including the ones you feel awkward asking.
Come to breakfast
Meet the brethren before a stated meeting. No commitment, no sales pitch, and the food is good.
Petition the lodge
When you are ready, you request a petition, have it signed by members who know you, and file it with our Secretary.
Receive the degrees
After an investigation and a favourable ballot, you are initiated, passed and raised through the three degrees of Masonry.
