Our regular monthly meeting, preceded by breakfast. Business is conducted, the lodge's charity is directed, petitions are read and balloted, and the brethren catch up with one another. Guests are welcome at the table.
Our Lodge
James F. Brumit — Sunshine Lodge No. 341
Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Dallas, Texas. Chartered under the Grand Lodge of Texas. Known around the city, for as long as anyone can remember, simply as Sunshine.
The name we carry
A name worth living up to.
Our lodge bears the name of James F. Brumit in honour of his devoted service to the Craft — a man whose work for this lodge and this fraternity was thought significant enough to be remembered every time our name is read aloud.
That is a considerable thing to be handed. It is also a standard. A lodge named for a brother's service is obliged to keep serving, and we try to take that seriously — in how we receive visitors, how we look after our own, and what we give back to Dallas.
The nickname came from the number and the character both. Ask a Dallas Mason about No. 341 and you will hear Sunshine before you hear anything else.
The work of the lodge
What a year at Sunshine looks like.
Some of it is ceremony, some of it is service, and a surprising amount of it is cooking for one another.
Degree work
Conferring the three degrees of Masonry on our candidates — the heart of what a lodge exists to do. Members spend real hours learning the ritual so that it is delivered properly, from memory, as it has been for centuries.
Charity & community service
Support for students, for children's medical care, for veterans, and for neighbours in difficulty. Texas Masons fund some of the largest charitable work in the state, and every lodge carries part of it.
Fellowship & family
Shared meals, cookouts, visits to sister lodges, and occasions that bring wives, children and grandchildren along. A lodge that only ever meets in a closed room is not much of a lodge.
Beyond our own walls
We show up for Dallas.
Masonry that stops at the lodge door has missed the point. Sunshine Lodge lends its support to causes across the city — including the arts and music education programmes that give young people in Dallas somewhere constructive to put their talent.
Most recently we stood as a Working Tool Sponsor of Harmony & Light 2026, supporting arts and music in our community.

Come to breakfast. That is genuinely all it takes.
Whether you are a Master Mason visiting Dallas, a man curious about the fraternity, or simply someone who would like to see the inside of the building — let us know you are coming and someone will meet you at the door.
There is no dress code you need to worry about, no cost, and nobody will ask you to sign anything. Sunshine has a reputation for hospitality and we would like to keep it.
